About The Position

This is a full-time Evening position for a Paramedic in the Emergency Department at UAB St. Vincent's East in Trussville, AL. The role involves providing basic and advanced life support, intervening and stabilizing ill or injured patients under the direction of a physician or Registered Nurse, and initiating interventions based on transport team protocols. The position also requires monitoring and communicating patient condition, providing patient and family education, and maintaining equipment for safety.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
A driver's license valid in the State of Alabama may be required based on departmental need.
Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) required.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients.
Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols.
Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
