About The Position

Fast-paced, high volume Emergency Department is looking for top skilled Paramedic. Work location: Texas Health HEB, 1600 Hospital Parkway in Bedford, TX 76022. Work hours: Full Time, Night Shift (7p to 7a), 3 shifts, 36 hours per week. Weekend and holiday requirements. Complete benefits available. Paramedics work closely with physicians, RNs, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams as valued members of the interdisciplinary ED care team. Hospital-based paramedics function within a defined ED-specific scope of practice, performing advanced clinical skills under direct physician supervision in accordance with Texas Health Resources protocols. Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. Fast-Paced, high-volume department averaging 100 - 200 patients/day. The professional paramedic exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship, required.
  • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or
  • LP - Licensed Paramedic
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 days of hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ED Only), within 60 days of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Paramedic experience in EMS or Fire Dept preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications. ACLS drugs (including drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations. All IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs.
  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record
  • Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs
  • Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices
  • Cervical collar management
  • External defibrillation
  • Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application
  • Oral airway insertion and removal
  • Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV Access
  • Draw blood from ports
  • Other duties as assigned by the care team
