University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 90% Paramedic (36 hours per week) to work in their Urgent Care Clinics. These clinics provide care to save patients a trip to the emergency room. The Urgent Care Paramedics are responsible for assessing a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric, ensuring patient care standards are met, and providing access to additional care options not normally found at a traditional walk-in clinic, including X-rays, IV fluids, and stitches. This position is part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. They utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients. The clinics are open evenings, weekends, and some holidays. This position will mainly support the Holiday Rd/Scott Blvd locations but could float to other clinic locations based on clinical need/hours. The Department Summary states that under the supervision of the NM/ANM and Medical Director of Urgent Care, and receiving functional supervision from APPs, the Paramedic functions as a member of the urgent care team. They perform technical, patient care, and related clerical functions in the Urgent Care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit. Staff will float between Urgent Care sites based on staffing need.
