About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources, in partnership with TeamHealth, is seeking a Certified Paramedic to provide correctional medical care at the Clark County Jail in Springfield, Ohio. This role offers full-time and part-time opportunities to provide a range of medical care, including primary, addiction, urgent, and behavioral health services to an adult population. The position is unique in that it is free from coding, billing, insurance, satisfaction surveys, ICD-10, and DRGS. Care is evidence-based, addressing patient needs rather than wants. This role offers a vast array of medical pathology not typically seen in other healthcare settings and provides socially meaningful work by serving a marginalized population that often lacks ordinary access to medical care due to lack of insurance, mental illness, or homelessness. The position allows for a large degree of medical autonomy, free from micromanaging, with extensive nursing guidelines in place. It is considered safer than many other healthcare settings due to the prohibition of weapons, the handling of controversial inmates by correctional staff, the punishment of inmates for acting out, and the ability to stop and restart visits at any time.

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by a state agency or accredited by the ACEN
• A minimum of 12 months of experience in a primary care setting within the last 24 months
• Active, unrestricted OH LPN license
• BLS from the American Heart Association
