The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 60% Paramedic (24 hours per week) for their Scott Blvd Laboratory and Walk-In Clinics. UI Walk-in Clinics aim to provide care to save patients a trip to the emergency room. Urgent Care Paramedics are responsible for assessing a wide variety of patients, from newborn to geriatric, ensuring patient care standards are met, and providing access to additional care options like X-rays, IV fluids, and stitches. This position operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, offering opportunities for learning and growth through a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Clinics are open evenings, weekends, and some holidays, though this specific position has a Monday-Friday schedule. While primarily supporting the Scott Blvd location, the role may involve floating to other clinic locations based on clinical need/hours. The position functions as a member of the urgent care team, performing technical, patient care, and related clerical functions under the supervision of a Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and Medical Director of Urgent Care, and functional supervision from Advanced Practice Providers.
