Paramedic Per Diem - Emergency Services (Day Shift)

The ER Paramedic is a specially trained bedside caregiver who assists the professional nursing staff in performing routine care, performs specialized technical skills, reports any unusual incident or findings, and always maintains patient safety to a group of patients for a designated time period. The ED Paramedic provides care in accordance with standards and procedures of the hospital and works under the direct supervision of a physician.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Current Paramedic Certification.
- One year acute care hospital experience or one year experience as an EMT/Paramedic on an ambulance crew or Patient Care Technician.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (within 6 months of hire) certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.
- The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
Responsibilities
- Assists the professional nursing staff in performing routine care.
- Performs specialized technical skills.
- Reports any unusual incident or findings.
- Maintains patient safety to a group of patients for a designated time period.
- Provides care in accordance with standards and procedures of the hospital.
- Works under the direct supervision of a physician.
- Assigned a de-escalation class via Health Stream upon hire.
