About The Position

This position involves providing advanced medical care to patients, including transportation. Individuals must possess the complex knowledge and skills necessary for patient care and transportation. Paramedics and Registered Nurses may need to assist and give direction to additional EMS Responders at the scene and/or during transport. The Lead Paramedic or Registered Nurse will serve as the key contact for EMS while on scene, providing support for management and staff. Responsibilities include monitoring productivity, tracking Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and assisting management with EMS Operations, which may involve regulations, licensing, staffing, staff education, equipment maintenance, finance, and quality assurance. The role also acts as a formal resource for EMS staff, assists with patient care in the receiving facility, and involves lifting and moving patients. Physical activities include significant use of arms and legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Paramedics are expected to attend training to maintain certifications and licensure, and to stay updated on new developments. A welcoming and educational environment for students is to be provided, with timely completion of academic assessments. Work hours will vary depending on patient needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of two years of experience as a paramedic in an Ambulance setting.
Thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of how various equipment such as a monitor or defibrillator work and how to troubleshoot problems.
Must hold national registry status at a Paramedic level.
Requires a Wisconsin Paramedic license.
Graduate from an accredited nursing program required.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS)100, 200, and 700 completed.
Must possess a valid Driver's License and have a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent, advanced version for paramedics.
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred depending on location.

Responsibilities
