About The Position

St. Matthews Fire & EMS is seeking a Paramedic or EMT-B to join their progressive FIRE & EMS service. Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • At least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation (criminal history, driving record, employment and reference verification).
  • Meet physical and medical requirements for the position.
  • Successfully complete post-offer medical, psychological, and drug screenings.
  • Obtain NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 certifications within sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Current Kentucky EMT certification/licensure.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens certification.
  • Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma (P.H.A.T.) certification.
  • Current Kentucky Paramedic certification/licensure (for Paramedic role).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (for Paramedic role).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (for Paramedic role).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EMS experience.
  • Prior service with a Kentucky CERS-participating agency or other approved public retirement system.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Experience operating within a 911 emergency response system.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency medical calls.
  • Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care.
  • Transport patients to medical facilities.
  • Operate within a 911 emergency response system.
  • Maintain patient records and documentation.
