About The Position

The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is seeking a Casual Paramedic Instructor to support the Education department. This role will assist the Paramedic Program Director in planning and executing Paramedic Education Programs, including direct classroom instruction for students in EMT Programs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification as an allied health provider, registered nurse, or licensed physician.
Knowledge and experience in the use of personal computers.
Strong knowledge of word processing, database management, and spreadsheets.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Professional manner and appearance.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic OR National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (NREMT-P) OR Paramedic OR Pre Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN).
Act 34 clearance.

Responsibilities

Cover all material assigned by the Paramedic Program Director in accordance with Department of Health and DOT Guidelines.
Develop and administer regular quizzes and homework assignments.
Inform the Paramedic Program Director of students failing to make satisfactory academic progress.
Serve as a role model for professional attitudes and behavior.
Inform the Coordinator of EMS Education if unable to cover material to allow for alternative arrangements.
Monitor student progress and provide supplemental instruction or tutoring for students having difficulty.
Preview all examinations prior to administration.
Administer standardized examinations as scheduled.
Begin and end all classes on time; rescheduling requires approval from the Paramedic Program Director.
Maintain student and class records in a standardized manner.
Conduct class in accordance with Center, State, Federal, and AMA training standards.
Provide students with constructive feedback, direction, and counseling.
Grade quizzes, examinations, and student assignments in a timely manner.
