About The Position

The paramedic is responsible for the delivery of care to assigned patients to include assessment, implementation, coordination, teaching, consulting, and evaluation of patient care according to scope of practice. Enhances quality and professionalism of patient care practices, attains knowledge and competency, and participates in shared decision making. Requirements

  • Kentucky Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS American Heart Association
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Able to critically think through complex patient situations, process improvements, evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to break down problems or tasks; scanning one’s own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events.
  • Demonstrated computer management skills. Considerable knowledge of computer applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Science in Paramedicine or related healthcare degree from an accredited college preferred
  • 5 years of experience as a paramedic or 3 years of experience as a paramedic in a high volume patient care setting.
  • Previous aeromedical, KBEMS critical care endorsement or clinical ER experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Obtains vital signs, gathers patient data and records on patient chart.
  • Initiate IV, IO infusions, access indwelling and implanted IV ports.
  • Sets up suture trays and other sterile fields.
  • Applies dressings.
  • Assists with/applies orthopedic devices including but not limited to ace wraps, crutches, knee immobilizers, finger splints and wrist splints.
  • Assists patient with emergent needs.
  • Provides psychosocial support for patients and their families/significant others as needed.
  • Administers ACLS interventions at the direction and supervision of the attending physician.
  • Administers IV, PO, IM, IN medications per hospital scope.
  • Initiate, maintain and monitor IV infusion, blood and blood components.
  • Performs advanced airway management by direct physician order only.
  • Performs cardioversion, manual defibrillation, and transcutaneous pacing as directed by physician order.
  • Performs assessments, interventions and educations to patients.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
