About The Position

Fort Bend County is seeking a Paramedic I to join its Emergency Medical Service. This role is responsible for providing emergency pre-hospital medical care, preparing necessary reports, maintaining emergency vehicle supplies and equipment, and ensuring the condition of ambulances and stations. The position may also involve acting as a lead person on a unit, assisting other employees, and participating in emergency management activities during local disasters. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Certified Paramedic
  • 6 months full time employment as a paramedic
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials
  • Organizational skills and ability to complete projects
  • Applicants must pass the Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Services entrance written and skills examination.
  • Available for emergency call-in as needed
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Provides emergency pre-hospital medical care.
  • Prepares necessary reports as required.
  • Maintains emergency vehicle inventory of medical supplies.
  • Maintains condition of ambulance and station.
  • Maintains territory maps and updates as needed.
  • Acts as lead person on unit when required.
  • Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties.
  • Signs for and is held accountable for equipment used.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
