About The Position

The Owensboro Health Paramedic-Event Medicine independently works off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within their full scope of practice as defined by the state of Kentucky and Owensboro Health's scope of practice. The ability to work independently is critical, since you may be the only EMS person at the event based on event size. Based on this need to work independently, we are able to consider only paramedics with 911 experience. Our events are typically on nights and weekends, but can vary. Events can last from three to 13 hours but the average event is five hours. Event Medicine employees are required to be available for a minimum of three events per quarter.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' 911 paramedics experience required
  • High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
  • Paramedic - Licensed Paramedic in the state of Kentucky required upon hire
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required upon hire
  • Driver - Valid driver's license and 21 years of age required upon hire
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care.
  • Responsible for triage care in the pre-hospital environment.
  • Responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care within the on-site care team and during handover.
  • Utilizes the problem solving model to independently resolve patient problems and follow through with the healthcare team to implement solutions.
  • Responds to emergency requests within the assigned small and large events.
  • Maintains clinical competency per regulatory and accreditation compliance.
