About The Position

This role focuses on providing high-quality patient care in both the Emergency Department (ED) and ambulance settings. The Paramedic/EMT will assist nursing staff in the ED, demonstrate knowledge and clinical skills according to established policies and procedures, and provide care in the ambulance setting according to established protocols. Key responsibilities include triaging patients, utilizing an age-appropriate and holistic approach, and assisting in other areas as needed. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, restocking supplies, and adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA, EMTALA, IDPH and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completion of all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Knowledge of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Assists nursing with delivers high quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care while in the Emergency Department.
  • Provide high quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills with established protocols while in the ambulance setting.
  • Triage patients presenting to the Emergency Department and/or with EMS services
  • Utilizes an age appropriate, holistic approach for the patients and families seeking emergency services.
  • Assist/float to other areas to assist with clinical and non-clinical functions as needed and/or as assigned
  • Accurately and promptly restock ambulance and patient rooms after every call
  • Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal document, including medication administration in both the ambulance and ED setting.
  • Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA, EMTALA, IDPH and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
