Canyon Vista Medical Center is a 106 bed acute care hospital that strives to offer exceptional care to the Sierra Vista community. Located in the beautiful high desert of southeastern Arizona, Canyon Vista Medical Center commits to serve residents in Sierra Vista, Ft. Huachuca, Cochise County – a population of more than 131,000 people, and our surrounding communities. We’re comfortably nestled in the San Pedro River Valley, 75 miles southeast of Tucson. Canyon Vista Medical Center was founded in 1963 as Western Baptist Osteopathic Hospital on what was then the eastern edge of Sierra Vista. Growth and advancing technology dictated building the 177,000 square foot hospital at 5700 E Hwy 90. Completed in 2015, our facility offers: Emergency Services with a Level III Trauma Unit, Women Services, Birthing Suites, Level I Nursery, Bone & Joint Institute Center of Excellence for Total Joint Replacement, Intensive / Progressive / Acute Care, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Surgical Services / Outpatient Surgery Center, Adult Psychiatric Unit, Advanced Diagnostic Imaging to include 3D Mammography, Laboratory Services, Rehabilitation Services, Two Helicopter Pads, Wound Care.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of a Program in Discipline; validated by current state licensure
  • Licenses: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-P) required
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) within 6 months of hire date. Handle with Care certification to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
  • Under the supervision of a physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
  • Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
  • Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
  • Exhibits exceptional customer service with patients and teammates.
