About The Position

Eckert Seamans is a full-service national law firm with a strong reputation and history of success that spans more than 65 years. With approximately 300 lawyers across a network of 15 offices, we provide clients with proactive, solution-oriented business and litigation counsel. We are seeking a Mass Tort Paralegal to join our New York City office. The ideal candidate should possess experience in handling asbestos litigation, be detail oriented and have knowledge of civil litigation procedures. Additional requirements include understanding of HIPPA regulations for the purpose of acquiring medical records, sound organizational methods, critical thinking, superb written and oral communication abilities, and proficiency with MS Office including Word and Excel. Experience with forensic aspects of case preparation, review and summation of medical records, handling subpoenas, interfacing with experts and trial preparation are necessary as well as management of case related administrative duties.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience
  • Experience in Mass Tort will be highly considered

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of legal documents such as depositions and pleadings
  • File documents with courts
  • Summarize cases and prepare reports for attorneys
  • Organization and management of documents, including managing spreadsheets and retrieval systems
  • Act as liaison among various parties including court for scheduling and sharing information
  • Coordinate the collection, review and production of documents and respond to discovery requests
  • Assist with conducting research and investigating facts
  • Assist with trial preparation including assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions and court filings
  • Coordination of large-scale document jobs with Office Services
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
