About The Position

The Litigation Support Team at Leidos, supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Santa Ana, CA, has an opening for a Paralegal to work in a downtown Santa Ana, CA DOJ office. This position involves performing paralegal duties to help the U.S. Department of Justice achieve its mission. The team is fast-paced and focuses on providing innovative solutions using defensible and efficient technologies to empower customers with the knowledge they need. Requirements

  • Requires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed.
  • At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience required.
  • Basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum.
  • Sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with computer applications, including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment.
  • Trial experience.
  • Experience with Relativity or similar applications.
  • Automated litigation support experience.
  • Current or active clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for attorneys in discovery and for motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Summarize depositions and other transcripts.
  • Maintain case files.
  • Perform simple legal research.
  • Index, track, and control document discovery (including documents produced and received).
  • Index, track exhibits, and other materials at depositions and trials.
  • Prepare exhibit cross-references.
  • Assist attorneys in the courtroom.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
  • Compile documents for FOIA, production requests, and Congressional inquiries.
