About The Position

The purpose of this position is to assist the Assistant General Counsel, and AMT Leadership, with various projects in a corporate legal setting. This position is ideal for an individual with 1-3 years of paralegal experience seeking to develop a career in the corporate setting.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Outstanding research and writing skills and strong oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience working as a paralegal for a law firm or with an in-house legal department.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company procedures/policies, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Maintains a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with others; complete and understand complex analysis of numbers; read, analyze and interpret written materials; develop company to meet and exceed company standards; ensure compliance with company policies; respond appropriately to feedback to make improvements; maintain positive working relationships; troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of HR and how to apply it to company policies, procedures, issues and relationships.
  • Knowledge of modern business communication, office procedures and methods.
  • Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork.
  • Persons in this position may be required to pass a drug, alcohol, and/or criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate or equivalent paralegal education preferred.
  • Experience using legal research platforms such as Westlaw or Lexis preferred.
  • Registered notary in the State of Ohio preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review contracts and legal documents to locate certain data and information.
  • Organize and maintain corporate legal files (primarily electronically).
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of corporate policies.
  • Conduct necessary employee training.
  • Prepare summaries of contracts.
  • Research and assist with matters relating to corporate compliance.
  • Assist Assistant General Counsel with special projects as assigned.
  • Enter data and information from documents into computer systems.
  • Review, revise and negotiate business agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Draft routine contracts and agreements (NDAs, sales contracts, distribution agreements, etc.).
  • Perform a wide variety of clerical, technical, and administrative office support duties.
  • Other duties as determined or assigned.
