About The Position

Cipriani & Werner is a multidisciplinary law firm recognized for understanding client needs and delivering expected results. The Charleston Office in Charleston, WV is looking for a Paralegal to join their growing team.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • 3-5 years of prior paralegal experience in insurance defense litigation required.
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures, court rules, and filing requirements.
  • Experience proofreading, and formatting legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Experience coordinating and maintaining case files, medical records, and litigation calendars.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management/billing software.
  • Must be a self-motivated independent thinker with excellent time management skills, strong organizational skills, and outstanding communication skills with the ability to work as a team member in a high-volume fast paced work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates/bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance carriers, claims documentation, and litigation reporting requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of insurance defense litigation from case inception through trial.
  • Manage and maintain litigation calendars, court deadlines, and scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and expert meetings.
  • Review, organize, and summarize medical records, billing records, and other case-related documents.
  • Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, court personnel, and expert witnesses.
  • Prepare case summaries and trial materials for attorney review.
  • Maintain electronic case file in an organized and accurate manner.
  • Conduct e-filing in state and federal courts.
  • Monitor case progression and proactively follow up on outstanding discovery, records requests, and deadlines.
