About The Position

Crossroads is seeking a Paralegal III to provide advanced litigation and legal support services to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) within the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), Southern District of Mississippi. This role supports federal debt collection and financial litigation activities by conducting legal research, managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating evidence and records, and assisting attorneys throughout all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical abilities, exceptional organizational skills, and experience supporting federal or complex civil litigation matters. This position requires the ability to work independently in a high-volume legal environment while maintaining strict confidentiality and adherence to federal procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience supporting litigation matters.
  • Experience supporting federal litigation, debt collection, financial litigation, or government legal environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, litigation procedures, and court filing requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management systems.
  • Experience using CM/ECF filing systems preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Justice or other federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with debt collection enforcement procedures and financial litigation processes.
  • Knowledge of federal court rules and procedures.
  • Experience handling sensitive or confidential government information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive litigation support to AUSAs handling debt collection and financial litigation matters.
  • Review, analyze, and organize case materials, evidence, and legal documentation.
  • Maintain and manage electronic and physical case files in accordance with federal court and agency requirements.
  • Track litigation deadlines, court schedules, and filing requirements.
  • Conduct legal and factual research using online legal research platforms and government databases.
  • Research debtor assets, financial records, liens, judgments, and related enforcement matters.
  • Analyze legal documents, contracts, financial information, and court records.
  • Summarize findings and prepare reports for attorney review.
  • Draft and prepare legal pleadings, correspondence, subpoenas, discovery requests, motions, affidavits, and other litigation documents.
  • Prepare exhibits, trial binders, and supporting documentation for hearings and trials.
  • Assist with document production, indexing, and document management activities.
  • Ensure filings comply with federal court rules and procedures.
  • Monitor case progress and maintain case tracking systems.
  • Coordinate with federal agencies, court personnel, witnesses, and opposing counsel as directed.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal and financial information.
  • Utilize legal databases, electronic filing systems (CM/ECF), and case management software.
  • Organize and maintain records related to collections, judgments, and enforcement actions.
  • Support attorneys with scheduling, document review, and litigation workflow management.
  • Perform additional legal support duties as assigned.
