About The Position

The OSHR General Counsel’s office provides legal and policy advice to the OSHR Director, Executive Management, and divisions. This position will support and work with OSHR’s legal team in a variety of areas, including procurements, policy, rulemaking, public records, and other matters.

Requirements

  • Capability to analyze case law, statutory law, and common law.
  • Understanding of judicial and quasi-judicial processes.
  • Proficiency in conducting legal research based on initial guidance regarding methods, available source materials, and the office's policies and precedents.
  • Skill in summarizing facts and evidence, as well as drafting legal documents.
  • Ability to leverage technology for research and writing tasks.
  • Skill in creating spreadsheets for data capture and analysis.
  • Graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training and two years of experience as a paralegal; or Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of substantive paralegal experience; or High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and six years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop and maintain filing systems and internal procedures for management of legal work.
  • Assist with the collection and redaction of confidential information in connection with public records or other requests, including the use of e-discovery.
  • Prepare and provide reports for both internal and external use.
  • Draft correspondence, memoranda, and other documents.
  • Conduct and summarize legal research.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects, including meeting coordination, documentation, and project planning support.
