About The Position

New American Funding is seeking a Paralegal II to support the Legal Department. We seek smart, motivated candidates who are proactive, able to work independently, able to prioritize work and handle high volume in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and pay great attention to detail. The position provides an opportunity to be part of an active office and close-knit team in a role critical to the performance of the company’s business.

Requirements

  • Must have 5+ years of relevant experience
  • High skill level with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • High comfort level using custom or proprietary software, such as ticketing systems, contract management systems, and SharePoint/Azure
  • Experience performing legal research using legal research systems, such as AllRegs
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting regulations and rules
  • Ability to complete work timely with high degree of accuracy
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Strong sense of accountability and work ethic
  • Positive and a good team player
  • Must be able to verify identity and employment eligibility to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mortgage industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain contract templates as part of the Contract Risk Management program
  • Perform preliminary contract reviews of commercial agreements (e.g., vendor agreements, business agreements, leases, and similar documents) using established document standards to identify key terms, issues, and deviations
  • Update and maintain contract data in a contract management software
  • Review and interpret corporate documents, legal communications, and other legal documents, such as subpoenas
  • Review and interpret moderately complicated rules and regulations
  • Ensure clear and prompt communication with business units and provide guidance on required actions as necessary
  • Maintain and organize legal documents and data in third party and proprietary systems, including ticketing systems
  • Research and respond to complaints from regulators and government entities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
