About The Position

Under general supervision, this position assists attorneys in the performance of duties including ensuring contracts, policies, and business practices meet corporate policies and applicable laws to protect the organization from legal action and mitigate risk impacts to the company. This position participates in the review and analysis of commercial contracts and legal agreements, supports risk identification activities, and assists legal and business stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of paralegal experience supporting attorneys in a corporate legal department, law firm, or similar environment.
  • Experience supporting the review, drafting, redlining, interpretation, and administration of commercial contracts and other legal agreements.
  • Excellent research, drafting, and document management skills
  • Strong understanding of contractual provisions, legal documentation, and risk identification principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across departments.
  • Discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to, management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.

  • Experience supporting in-house counsel.
  • Knowledge of contract structures, contract risk allocation, and risk management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in-house counsel with the drafting, review, redlining, interpretation, and deployment of contracts, supporting multiple attorneys and projects in North and South America.
  • Support contracts from initial request through execution, including managing contract databases and templates, managing deadlines, and coordinating with attorneys on contract-related matters.
  • Draft, review, redline, compare, and combine a variety of legal documents (e.g., commercial contracts, confidentiality agreements, amendments, templates, and other legal agreements) while identifying potential legal and business risks.
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information for contract review, negotiation, and development activities.
  • Assist attorneys in negotiating contract terms with third parties to ensure favorable terms and adherence to internal policies and risk mitigation standards.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain contract files and related legal documentation in accordance with Fluor procedures.
  • Conduct legal research on a variety of topics including contract law.
  • Monitor changes in law and assist with implementation needs.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential, and proprietary matters on a routine basis with discretion and professionalism.
  • Plan and organize work assignments while adhering to Fluor policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and client satisfaction.
