This position works in a varied capacity and supports division attorneys by performing initial investigative review of claims filed against the Commonwealth and client agencies, including the Virginia Department of Corrections, the Virginia Parole Board, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. The role involves conducting witness interviews, preparing drafts of legal documents and memoranda for attorney review, maintaining document and file control, gathering relevant documents and video footage, including review and analysis of video footage and audio recordings. The paralegal will also assist in all phases of discovery, work with attorneys to handle electronic discovery, and assist in trial preparation.
