About The Position

This full-time, 10-month Paraeducator position supports the In-School Suspension (ISS) program at the New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus. The role assists teachers with classroom instruction, management, and other tasks that promote student learning. Paraeducators help foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports students’ academic and social-emotional development in New London’s diverse, internationally minded school community.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher, completion of at least 60 college credits, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with implementing lesson plans and provide individualized or small-group instruction to support student learning.
• Support students with academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs while promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor student progress, reinforce classroom expectations, and help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.
• Assist students with daily living activities, mobility, and personal care as needed, following district policies and individual student plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to support student success while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
