About The Position

Paraeducator Specialist - Special Education Resource and Life Essentials Coordinates activities or performs specialized duties to assist in providing instruction to and supervision of students in a variety of instructional and non-instructional programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 72 college quarter credits from a nationally accredited institution or pass ETS test required.
• Experience working with children with various abilities and age levels in an educational setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively with district staff, students, parents and the general public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
• Ability to relate in a positive and proactive manner with supervisory staff, classroom teachers, parents, and students.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Successful experience working with students with disabilities.
• Must be able to work independently and solve problems with a minimum of supervision.
• Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable with students and staff.
• Ability to work with bicultural and at-risk students.
• Must have excellent attendance.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual preferred.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain first aid card and specialized training as needed.
• Willingness to obtain a current First Aid Card and CPI training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities or performs specialized duties to assist in providing instruction to and supervision of students in a variety of instructional and non-instructional programs.
• Work with Middle School students in a tutoring situation.
• Work effectively with small groups or individual students under the supervision of certified staff.
• Apply appropriate discipline according to district procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
