This position is for a 1:1 Support Paraeducator in a non-mainstreamed special education program, generally in a self-contained classroom. The role involves assisting certificated staff with instructional and non-instructional activities for students with moderate to severe handicaps. Responsibilities include instructing students individually or in small groups, assisting with basic life skills, supervising student behavior, and providing personal care such as toilet teaching, feeding, and communication development, in addition to academic or pre-academic instruction. A change in assignment and/or location may occur based on student-specific needs and enrollment variances. The position requires completion of Right Response Training within the first 3 months of hire, with annual renewal. Successful completion of the Fundamental Course of Studies (FCS) and General Paraeducator Certificate is also required, dependent on state funding.
