About The Position

Provides instructional, group and individual behavior, and clerical support to teachers in special education classroom settings, assisting individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management in special education and general education classrooms and play field environs. This position is based at Rio Tierra JHS and is scheduled for 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, across 182 work days per year. It is full-time and pays $20.38–$26.98 per hour in 9 annual steps, with salary placement based on relevant experience. Medical, dental, vision, and employee life insurance are available to employees who work at least 4 hours per day. The district contribution is full for employees working 6 or more hours per day and 50% for those working 4–5.99 hours per day.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; at least 48 college credit units may substitute for the assessment.
Provide proof of high school graduation, such as a diploma, transcripts, or equivalent (e.g., GED).
Provide NCLB compliance documentation: 48 semester college units or a passing Paraeducator Proficiency Exam.
Provide a resume with clear evidence of required experience.
May require a valid driver’s license.
Must comply with District skill/competency requirements.
May require a valid First Aid/CPR card.
