About The Position

The Early Childhood Education Department combines a deep passion for early education with meaningful support for the staff who make the magic happen. We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Preschool Plus Paraeducator to support extended care programming for preschool students. This position works closely with teachers to provide instructional, behavioral, and personal care support that helps young children build independence, confidence, and school readiness skills in an inclusive learning environment. The Preschool Plus Paraeducator helps maintain safe, engaging, and organized classrooms while supporting daily routines, individualized student needs, and positive social-emotional development. The ideal candidate is reliable, patient, flexible, team-oriented, and passionate about supporting young children with diverse learning and developmental needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Title 1 Schools Only: Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associate’s or higher degree; or demonstrated rigorous standard of quality through a formal state or local academic assessment (ex: ACT-Work Keys and ETS-ParaPro)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or related setting
  • Associate’s degree or higher in education or related field
  • Bilingual skills relevant to district population

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to students under the direction of a certified teacher, working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and promote skill development.
  • Implement instructional strategies and classroom supports to meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Monitor, document, and report student progress and behavior; assist in maintaining required records and classroom data.
  • Support classroom operations by preparing instructional materials, assisting with assessments, recording attendance, and completing required paperwork.
  • Assist students with classroom activities and daily routines to support engagement, independence, and successful participation.
  • Promote a positive, structured learning environment by reinforcing school rules and appropriate student behavior across settings.
  • Supervise students in various environments, including the classroom, playground, lunchroom, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Perform clerical and organizational tasks, including data entry, filing, copying, laminating, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
  • Assist with classroom logistics and events, such as transitions, drills, and special activities.
  • Utilize standard office and classroom technology to support instructional and operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Non-Recurring Pay: 7% of base salary in Non-Recurring Pay (distributed as 3.5% on November paycheck and 3.5 % on May paycheck).
  • Staffing Stability Incentive (Adams Elementary, Galileo Middle School and Mitchell High School): ESP employees will receive the equivalent of one salary step divided over 12 pay periods.
