About The Position

Hands of Heartland is looking for a compassionate and caring individual to work with the people we support as a Para-Educator.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Dependable transportation.
- Must be able to pass all background checks.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of a certified Special Education teacher, work with one or more school-age students with an IEP to provide targeted academic skills, daily living skills and social/emotional support to reduce or eliminate barriers to independent adult living.
- Assist students with self-care and/or mobility.
- Work with students on their IEP goals and do daily data recording on these goals.
- Work with students on daily living skills in the classroom and out in the community.
- Assist students in transitioning from school to adult living by providing real life experiences and helping them to be as independent as possible.
