About The Position

Reporting to the Development and Special Events Manager, the Pantry Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the food pantries, including inventory management, food ordering and distribution, and safety standards. The Pantry Coordinator's goal is to help patients improve their diets. The position includes security relationships with retail and farm vendors to either receive donated and purchased food. The Coordinator will place all orders with the MD Food Bank for all pantries and ensure the food pantry is stocked and organized. The Pantry Coordinator will work with the Nutritionist and Dieticians in meal planning and dietary information for patients. The Coordinator will manage the Pantry Assistants in all aspects. In addition to these duties the Pantry Coordinator will manage the food distribution plan for the Food As Medicine program. The Coordinator will order food boxes to be delivered to patients in the program, monitor compliance, trouble shoot issues and conduct surveys.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Interest in nutrition and healthy outcomes
  • Effective communication, research, presentation, and creative skills
  • Ability to learn new computer skills.
  • Maintain sensitivity to religious, ethnic, and cultural differences in others and show respect and empathy.
  • Ability to provide high-quality dietary advice to patients.
  • Willingness to customize dietary advice to meet the unique needs of patients.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
  • Must have a driver’s license and ability to travel between sites regularly and without notice

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Knowledge of dietary guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Assist in food data tracking, reporting for grant fulfillment.
  • Track patient access, food selections, and other required information in EMR.
  • Work with pantry assistants to restock pantries.
  • Work with Marketing team to enhance and promote the food pantries.
  • Provide patients with other food resources.
  • Instruct patients and their families on the benefits of healthy eating habits and answer any questions they may have about it.
  • Assist with pickup and stocking of food supplies in pantries, as needed.
  • Work with site nutritionist/dietician to provide educational dietary information for patients.
  • Coordinate with the pantry driver for distribution of the food to the pantries.
  • Working with the Food As Medicine team to ensure smooth deliveries of produce boxes.
  • Assist patients with dietary restrictions in choosing appropriate food items.
  • Engage in food safety.
  • Staff the Columbia, Mt. Vernon, Glen Burnie or Baltimore County pantries as needed.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and integrity in all aspects of patient care.
  • Effectively engages patients in their care.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and relaying messages.
  • Conduct food demonstration classes as needed (rarely).
  • Utilizes EMR resources to manage patient care, including flags and referrals.
  • Uses EMR to track patient use of pantries for reporting.
  • Uses email (Outlook), Teams and other approved communication channels to maintain regular communication with Chase Brexton team and external partners when needed.
  • Uses “out of office” functions in EMR, Outlook, and phone system to make staff aware of absences.
  • Keeps current with respect to organizational policies and procedures and puts them into practice.
  • Maintains pantry certifications with the MD Food Bank.
  • Takes active steps to keep current in new developments within the field of nutrition.
  • Join community groups related to food pantries.
  • Identify new practices and efficiencies.
