About The Position

Power-Flo Technologies has the capabilities of an electrical products distributor, manufacturer, and service organization all rolled into one. We are looking for you to join our collaborative team as a Panel Technician Apprentice at our Rochester location. The Panel Technician Apprentice will be trained to build custom control panels.

Requirements

  • Previous experience, training, or schooling in electrical work.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools and other power tools.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Current, valid, and clean NYS driver's license to operate company vehicles as needed.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 Hours.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • May require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and/or reaching.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills may be required for hand tools, power tools, and other machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Build custom control panels.
  • Learn basic electrical theory.
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Learn to mechanically layout and mount hardware components.
  • Wire complete panel in accordance with PFT panel procedures, UL508A specifications, and other best practices as given by the panel shop supervisor.
  • Learn the use of hand tools, i.e. jigsaw, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers.
  • Learn the use of electrical test equipment, i.e. Multi meter.
  • Perform torque check and marking in accordance with PFT procedures.
  • Test Custom Industrial Control Panels and OEM Products.
  • Perform point to point wire tests in accordance with PFT testing procedures.
  • Account for parts required for the job.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times.
  • Organize and maintain shop tools and equipment.
  • Organize and maintain personal tools.
  • Organize and maintain project items and materials.
  • Help maintain common shop supplies IE Labels, wire ties, wire, etc.
