About The Position

The Panel Checker is responsible for inspecting all panels for defects, ensuring they meet width and length specifications, and assisting with measuring the squareness of the panel. This role involves operating the panel coiler, labeling panels according to work orders, and maintaining stock for automatic labelers. The Panel Checker also supports startup and changeover procedures, counts panels to signal completion, and upholds 5S standards. Additionally, this position provides support on the line as needed during issues, under the direction of the Shift Supervisor or Group Lead.

Requirements

  • Ability to use utility knife and common hand tools safely
  • Ability to read tape measure with decimal and fraction scale
  • Ability to operate line controls located after the shear
  • Ability to read and understand work order requirements
  • Be familiar with material acceptance standards per grading criteria
  • Trained in operation of the coiler
  • High attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Inspect all panels for defects
  • Stack panels on skids or dollies
  • Check width and length of panels
  • Assist the Dry End Group Lead with measuring squareness of the panel
  • Operate panel coiler ensuring the material is coiled straight
  • Label each panel per work order
  • Ensure automatic labelers are stocked at all times
  • Roll film at the treadmill on startups and changeovers
  • Count panels and notify the Dry End Group Lead when a run or skid is near completion to signal changeover
  • Maintain acceptable 5S standards for the Dry End of the lines
  • Provide necessary support on the line wherever needed when issues arise as directed by the Shift Supervisor or the Group Lead
