About The Position

The Panel Builder is responsible for the layout, assembly, wiring, and testing of industrial control panels and electrical components used in custom machinery and automation systems. This position works from electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and specifications to build control panels, wire electrical devices, fabricate cables, and assist with troubleshooting electrical systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, capable of working independently, and committed to producing high-quality work in a safe and organized manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of control panel wiring, electrical assembly, or related experience.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and industrial control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical components, including PLCs, relays, motor starters, variable frequency drives, and control devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits and identify wiring issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a team-oriented approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes, or obtain required certifications.
  • Must possess required basic hand tools.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment while complying with all applicable quality, safety, and workplace policies and procedures.

  • Experience building, wiring, terminating, and testing electrical panels and cables preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Layout, drill, tap, and assemble industrial control panels according to electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Install, wire, label, and terminate electrical components, including PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, motor starters, terminal blocks, and other control devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering prints, manufacturing documentation, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate panel construction and wiring.
  • Build, route, terminate, and test electrical cables and harnesses, including soldering connectors as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and control panels, including 480VAC, 120VAC, and 24VDC systems.
  • Verify wiring accuracy, identify discrepancies, and make corrections to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Follow engineering revisions, panel build standards, and established manufacturing processes.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Project Management, and Team Leads to resolve technical issues and support project requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while complying with all quality, safety, and workplace policies and procedures.
