About The Position

GCyber is seeking a Palo Alto Engineer to support a high-profile DISA customer in their mission to improve collaboration and information sharing between defense and intelligence organizations. As the Palo Alto Engineer, you will provide expert advice and direction regarding the management and operation of Palo Alto devices. This role involves identifying and remediating misconfigurations, security gaps, and conflicting rules, as well as optimizing firewall and load balancer rule-sets to enhance performance and security posture. The engineer will perform bi-monthly evaluations of firewalls, track device performance and traffic utilization, and provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex network issues. Collaboration with customer points of contact and participation in meetings to align on goals and architectural direction, particularly with Palo Alto Networks technologies, are key aspects of this position. Adherence to DoD STIGs, DISA orders, and JSIG guidelines is required for maintaining regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • BA/BS and 8+ years of IT experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Cisco and/or Palo Alto Firewall experience in both engineering and operations and maintenance roles.
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC)
  • Strong knowledge of Palo Alto technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities
