About The Position

This is an entry level position with potential to move into a Night Selector position. US FOODS® is one of the largest food distributors with a culture and history of promotion from within, excellent training programs and a continuous improvement focus. We are looking for Pallet Wrapper associates who relish the chance to push their potential, grow and reap the rewards of joining the US FOODS® family.

Requirements

  • High School Education or GED preferred
  • A minimum of one-year warehouse experience preferred
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to read batch labels
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Must be team oriented and able to get along with others

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the quality of pallet builds and proper preparation for shipment to our customers to safeguard product from damage while loading and in transit.
  • Making sure the wrapping machines are always clean and in good operational condition.
  • Not allowing excess shrink to wrap to build up around guide wheel.
  • Not cutting shrink wrap from rollers using a box cutter.
  • Not placing stickers on any part of the equipment.
  • Wiping down the equipment at the end of shift each day.
  • Following all safety work practices and maintaining a clean and orderly dock area.
  • Preparing pallets for shipping to customers, ensuring proper pallet build, placement of protective materials, such as produce blankets and slip sheets, and quality wrapping for transport.
  • Confirming condition of product prior to loading, including both cases and breakers.
  • Determining when produce blankets are no longer usable and alerting a Lead or Supervisor to purchase.
  • Disposing of soiled cooler blankets.
  • Gathering slip sheets and securing them in an area close to wrapping stations to use during wrapping and inspection process.
  • Ensuring work area is always free of debris.
  • Verifying header labels are in the upper right-hand corner for the loader to easily locate.
  • Helping loaders by unloading trailers staged in doors that contain pallets, blankets, straps and any debris left in the trailer.
  • Raising the door, locking the trailer to the dock & lowering the dock plate.
  • Working in extreme temperatures of 100+ degrees and below freezing.
