About The Position

The Repairman is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and restoring pallets to meet established quality standards. This position requires strict adherence to safety rules, consistent attendance, and support for overall operations to ensure production targets and quality metrics are met daily. Repairmen play a key role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient repair operations, ensuring each pallet meets or exceeds expectations for strength, cleanliness, and appearance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to use nail guns, saws, hammers, and other hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Good communication, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 80 pounds safely and standing for long periods.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, attendance, and operational support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manual or automated pallet repair preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and steel-toe boots) at all times.
  • Inspect tools, air lines, and nail guns before each shift to ensure proper function.
  • Report immediately any unsafe condition, damaged tool, or injury to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free repair area to prevent hazards or equipment damage.
  • Never bypass safety devices or perform maintenance without authorization.
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training as assigned.
  • Perform repairs following established pallet repair procedures and specifications.
  • Replace all damaged or missing boards, blocks, and stringers as required.
  • Ensure no nails are protruding and all boards are properly aligned and fastened.
  • Follow approved nail patterns and component placement criteria for every repair.
  • Ensure pallets are free from contaminants such as cardboard, plastic, or grease.
  • Mark each repaired pallet with your assigned ID for traceability and accountability.
  • Achieve and maintain a minimum 95% quality score on audits.
  • Report any recurring defect trends or material issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Arrive on time and ready to begin work at the start of the shift.
  • Notify the Supervisor promptly of any absences, tardiness, or emergencies.
  • Stay engaged and productive during the entire shift.
  • Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and willingness to adjust tasks to meet production goals.
  • Assist with production flow when required by the Supervisor or Plant Manager.
  • Support related operations such as sorting, stacking, or cleaning when repair volume is lower.
  • Cooperate with quality, maintenance, and sorting teams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Follow instructions for rework, downtime recovery, or special repair requests as directed.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members to avoid slowdowns or rework.
  • Clean and organize the workstation, removing wood scraps, nails, and debris.
  • Turn off air tools, disconnect air hoses, and properly store all equipment.
  • Ensure the floor around the repair table is swept and clear.
  • Notify the Supervisor of any issues or material shortages before leaving.
