About The Position

This role involves operating a pallet jack to move freight within a staging area and to the freezer. Responsibilities include performing safety checks, preparing for operations, and ensuring the work area is safe. The operator will inspect items for damage, check temperatures and quality, and locate proper storage slots. They will also remove empty pallets and packing materials, and perform general housekeeping duties. The position requires effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a basic understanding of the shipping process. The role also involves assisting with procedures to minimize damage, communicating issues with scanning systems, and potentially training other employees.

Requirements

Ability to work in a sitting, standing, or alternating position.
Must have effective communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Must have a basic understanding of the shipping process.
Ability to read and write English.

Bilingual (English and Spanish Speaking) a plus.

Responsibilities

Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies, and procedures per company guidelines.
Ensure the work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately.
Review work schedule, perform safety check on equipment, obtain supplies required to perform the work, and prepare for operations.
Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.
Meet the required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
Work from receiving sheets, computer print-out, established procedures and practices, written and /or verbal instructions.
Locate and perform count check of incoming freight in the staging area and transport to the freezer with forklift/pallet jack.
Inspect items for damage, perform temperature and quality checks, and take appropriate action as needed.
Locate the proper slot on storage racks, set pallets in place with forklift or hand stack items, enter product data and location into RF unit.
Remove empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the proper area or receptacles.
Inspect empty pallets for damage, stack and move pallets with pallet jack or forklift to the proper storage area.
Perform general housekeeping duties in the work area as needed.
Perform other similar duties as requested or assigned by the supervisor.
Assist with implementing procedures to minimize the damage to trailers and equipment.
Communicate with Supervisor when issues arise with scanning system or inventory program.
Assist in training other employees assigned to the shipping area.
