About The Position

This role involves collecting and delivering products within the facility while adhering to company safety and quality procedures. The operator will use electronic or hand-operated pallet jacks to move materials between departments, buildings, and grounds. Responsibilities include identifying and reporting defective materials or equipment issues, maintaining a clean work area, and completing daily and weekly reports. The position also emphasizes teamwork, adherence to Simmons operating systems principles, and performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain company issued pallet jack licenses.
Must be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.
Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility.
Light to moderate physical effort required.
Will use required footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

Preferred experience in shipping and receiving.
Preferred experience working with large moving equipment.
Preference for poultry or food processing organization experience.
Military experience is valued.

Responsibilities

Operates an electronic or hand operated pallet jack between departments, buildings, and grounds.
Collects and delivers a wide variety of materials while adhering to established safety procedures.
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
Delivers materials to work areas as directed from the production supervisor, stacks materials in storage areas and loads shipments in trailers.
Ensures product or equipment being moved is undamaged and handled in a safe manner.
Responsible for identifying any mechanical problems or damage with the pallet jack and ensuring the problems are reported to the supervisor for further inspection and repair.
Completes and delivers daily and weekly reports to the floor supervisor.
Participates as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies) and the position’s role in support of these systems.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
