About The Position

The Pallet Island Technician is responsible for the proper identification of slit rolls and to ensure each roll is packed and labeled according to the customer specifications. They are also responsible for the proper use of the packaging equipment, the preventive maintenance, and housekeeping of the equipment and the area.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Ability to bend, stoop, and lift continuously
Fork Truck Certified
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Basic computer knowledge
Safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe shoes is required on some or all jobs
Work on a specified 12 hour shift and must be able and willing to work overtime on an as needed basis
Weekends and evening work are required
Ability to work as a team member
Self-motivated and the ability to plan ahead
Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the teamwork and direction of the packing department
To keep the rolls coming off the conveyors for continuous operation of the Primary Slitters
To transport the pallets through the Wrapping Station and into the Buffer Zone
Verify customer requirements by reviewing packaging specifications
Have the ability to identify exception codes and use the proper packing supplies
Must be able to print labels at the packaging station and how to verify the roll data for each finished roll coming off the conveyors
Troubleshoot the Roll conveying systems
Operate the cranes in a safe and controlled manner
Enter data into the computer at the Packing Station and at the Stretch-Wrapping Station
Must be able to operate the stretch-wrappers in both Automatic and Manual
Must be able to weigh the finished pallet and to properly apply label to pallet verifying data
Maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment
Interact and communicate with fellow packers, production supervisor, lead technician, and slitting technicians and Shipping as required
Ability to operate a forklift and to stack material using a forklift
Ability to operate the Clamp Truck and vertical wrappers
Assist in any function of the Slitting Department as requested by your lead operator and/or supervisor
