About The Position

Akiak Technology is seeking an Palantir Foundry Engineer to support the modernization of legacy systems through application development, deployment and delivery. This role will design, deploy, automate, and manage scalable Palantir environments while supporting the development and enhancement of modernization components and integrations in order to fulfill existing gaps in IT functionality and expand government customer capabilities. US citizenship and a T3 Secret clearance is required. This role is in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of total experience.
  • 3- 5 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or applied data systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Experience building data pipelines, data models, and integrations in modern data environments.
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to translate loosely defined problems into structured, implementable solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in client-facing, high-ownership environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and mission teams.
  • Experience in forward-deployed or client-embedded engineering roles preferred.
  • Exposure to analytics, AI/ML workflows, or operational data systems preferred.
  • Experience in federal or regulated environments preferred.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale system modernization or digital transformation efforts.
  • Deep technical knowledge of cloud-native development, microservices, and container orchestration.
  • Knowledge of API development, integration, and data exchange architectures.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Candidate must possess an Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • US citizenship and a T3 Secret clearance is required.
  • MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE GOVERNMENT'S BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION

Nice To Haves

  • Deep expertise with Palantir Foundry, including pipelines, Workshop/Slate, Ontology configuration, and AIP
  • 8+ years of software engineering or systems integration experience
  • Experience delivering CI/CD pipelines and analytics platforms in classified or DoD environments
  • Experience with Python, TypeScript, or Java within Foundry development workflows
  • Ability to own full feature lifecycle: architecture → build → test → deployment
  • Understanding of export control regulations such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Experience working with licensing, enforcement, or compliance systems in a national security or regulatory context.
  • Experience in data modeling, system integration planning, or enterprise architecture alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Palantir Foundry, including automated build, test, deployment, and environment promotion workflows
  • Build and iterate front-end analytical dashboards using Foundry’s Workshop/Slate application layer
  • Define and enforce automated quality gates, validation suites, and release confidence checks
  • Configure observability tooling including monitoring, logging, and alerting aligned to Foundry development patterns
  • Implement governed metric definitions and reusable business logic anchored to the Foundry Ontology
  • Demonstrate working capabilities to government stakeholders
  • Align integration patterns, data access controls, and release procedures with platform requirements
  • Deliver comprehensive technical documentation, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks
  • Provide defect resolution, troubleshooting, and incremental improvements
  • Assist in the modernization of legacy IT system; develop and enhance software modules and components supporting modernization efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Write and maintain clean, reusable, and testable code aligned with project standards.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint goals and backlog refinement.
  • Perform unit and integration testing to ensure code reliability and stability.
  • Assist in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software defects in development and production environments.
  • Support data migrations and API implementations to integrate legacy systems with new platforms.
  • Follow secure coding and configuration practices to meet federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Contribute to code reviews and collaborate on improving software quality.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation related to assigned systems and components.
