About The Position
This position is for a Painter Blaster who must be able to prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers. The role involves reading work orders, receiving verbal instructions, and preparing surfaces by removing dirt, oil, grease, old paint, smoothing cracks, and filling holes. The job also requires working at heights without fear, potentially erecting scaffolding or setting up ladders, and mixing coating liquids to achieve the desired color. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, as Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor employment visas.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
- Must be able to work at heights with no fear.
- Must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting.
- Paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers.
- Read work orders and receive instructions verbally.
- Prepare surfaces using appropriate methods to remove dirt, oil, grease, and old paint, and to smooth cracks and fill holes.
- Work at heights with no fear.
- Fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface.
- Select and mix coating liquids to produce desired colors according to specifications using a paddle or mechanical mixer.
- Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
- Apply paint to surfaces using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
