About The Position

Paints such as buildings, counters, cabinets, etc. using standard painting methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying. Must also have a knowledge of rubbing down fine-textured finishes, marbling, mottling, and graining techniques.

Requirements

One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform standard painting methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying of various surfaces, buildings, walls, counters, cabinets, etc.
One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
Five years of experience performing professional painting work including rubbing down fine-textured finishes, marbling, mottling, and graining techniques, surface preparation, coating methods and techniques including those designed to give special effects, etc.
Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lifts, carries and sets up materials and equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds, occasionally handles materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over.

Responsibilities

Paints a variety of surfaces according to directions.
Has knowledge of any of the accepted surface preparations, coating methods and techniques including those designed to give special effects.
Prepares coating materials by blending, tinting, toning and mixes in various additives.
Builds up shapes and levels surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics and patching compounds.
Obtains finely smoothed surfaces with abrasives, evens out dents by burning-in processes and treats surfaces with precoating agents.
Assures that the coating finish meets the desired match texture and thickness requirements.
Uses a variety of tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray guns trowels, straight edges, viscosity testers, and graining devices.
Is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lifts, carries and sets up materials and equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally handles materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over.
Performs other related work as assigned.
