About The Position

The Powder Coat Painter applies powder coating paint to products requiring high-grade finishes, ensuring the required coating thickness, color, and cosmetic requirements are consistently met. This role involves operating a paint gun, performing visual inspections, and maintaining equipment and work areas according to company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education (GED).
  • A minimum of two years of powder coating experience required.
  • 2 or more years of previous experience in industrial powder coating painting required, preferably in a metal weld fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and properly interpret blueprints, job orders, and customer specs.
  • Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos.
  • Ability to properly clock in/out and complete all job-related paperwork.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Applies powder coating paint to parts based on job orders, customer specifics, and other documents, verifying that documentation and specifications are correct and met.
  • Operates the paint gun and other equipment efficiently, making necessary adjustments to produce a quality finish.
  • Determines material flow and coating quality through visual inspections or by using a mill-gauge.
  • Ensures the proper thickness and color is applied to all parts produced.
  • Ensures items are properly hung for safety, conductivity, and line density, and removes them from hooks.
  • Cleans and properly maintains the paint booth, paint guns, and other equipment between jobs and colors, and following each shift.
  • Performs general and required clean-up duties of the equipment and surrounding areas as required by Super Steel 7S practices.
  • May perform trained and approved basic material handling duties with the use of a manual pallet jack and/or forklift to move and stage materials (will be trained and certified).
  • Adheres to all Super Steel and OSHA safety-related work rules and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
