About The Position

CREO Industrial Arts is a custom fabricator that has been producing high-end architectural products for over 30 years. We execute the vision of the world’s finest architects, experiential graphics designers, landscape architects, and exhibit designers, producing extremely high fit and finish custom products for a wide variety of venues. From the smallest, most detailed piece to large, multi-story structures, CREO does it all. Every project is different, but what they all have in common is the sophistication of the design and the industry’s highest standard of quality. This position supports the application of liquid coatings using HPLV spray equipment and the Matthews line of acrylic polyurethane paints and coatings and specialized architectural finishes in general.

Requirements

  • Experience painting on Metal.
  • Experience using an Airless Paint Sprayer.
  • Minimum of two years of experience applying liquid coatings in a high-quality environment.
  • Experience with and ability to use hand tools and sanding equipment.
  • Ability to interpret shop drawings to the extent required for the job.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining quality standards in the paint application process.
  • Inspecting surfaces to be sprayed to ensure they are finished to a level that will not contribute to quality problems after coating. Communicating to the paint lead or fabrication lead for corrections if needed.
  • Performing sanding and prep work, though the majority is done by fabrication staff.
  • Applying various masking materials precisely.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to company policy for safe work practices, including identifying required PPE for hazardous materials and documenting its use.
  • Monitoring inventory and re-ordering as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Helping to maintain daily log sheets for paint booth operation.
  • Maintaining the current 5S program and other housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Applying acrylic polyurethane paints to a near automotive standard, ensuring no runs, drips, or holidays.
  • Understanding the Matthews system's mixing process for various components and minimizing waste.
  • Acting as the main source of quality control for pre-paint finishing, understanding specific quality standards for each sign type.
  • Sanding or "roughing up" materials prior to painting (e.g., aluminum to 180-220 finish, removing sheen from acrylic), potentially assisting with paint preparation.
  • Masking off portions of products for application of different colors or coatings, reflecting approved shop drawings.
  • Keeping daily records of paint booth filter systems, ensuring accurate readings and log sheet completion.
  • Working with the purchasing department to identify economical means for ordering project materials, decreasing shipping and storage costs, and ensuring timely ordering to avoid impacting project schedules.
  • Working with the lead painter to understand and adhere to quality standards for applied coatings and seeking necessary training.
