About The Position

Under moderate supervision, paints surfaces of revenue buses and related parts. Metro’s mission is to provide a world-class transportation system that enhances the quality of life for all who live, work, and play within LA County.

Requirements

Four years' journey-level experience performing painting of heavy vehicle or automotive bodies, frames, and related parts
Valid California Class C driver's license
Must provide own tools of the trade, except for compressors
Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Experience painting buses and related parts desirable

Responsibilities

Paints interior and exterior surfaces of revenue buses and related parts and other vehicles according to specifications using hand tools and power equipment
Removes old paint from vehicles using hand tools and chemical agents as appropriate
Cleans and sands surfaces to be painted; masks surfaces which are not to be painted
Mixes paints and matches paint colors
Paints insignia, identifying letters, stripes, and numerals using stencils
Applies decals to exterior and interior of vehicles
Operates robotic paint equipment and assists with programming
Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out
