About The Position

Transco Railway Products, Inc. is seeking a Painter with experience in interior linings and coatings. The Painter will be responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of paint machines, ensuring adherence to manufacturing standards and customer specifications. This role requires the ability to read and understand work orders and follow all company guidelines and safety rules.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and comprehend work orders.
Proficiency in preparing spray guns and nozzles.
Ability to select the correct spray gun system.
Ability to select and match paint colors.
Ability to use a viscosity meter.
Ability to operate lifting and moving devices.
Ability to set up portable equipment.
Ability to spray prepared surfaces.
Ability to monitor painting operations for flaws.
Ability to disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment.
Ability to dispose of hazardous waste appropriately.
Ability to maintain a clean workspace and follow tooling requirements.
Dependable with good punctuality and attendance.
Mechanically inclined.
Willingness to learn different tasks.
Compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
Use of safety equipment including eye safety glasses and work boots.
Ability to wear a respirator.
Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials for more than 50% of the workday.
Ability to lift 50 pounds safely.
Ability to drag blast hose over the full length of a railcar.
Working around heavy moving equipment with intermittent exposure to vibration when using impact tools.
Visual color discrimination (ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness).
Near vision (ability to see details at close range).
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in elevated heights and confined spaces.
Ability to navigate scaffolds, floors, ladders, and uneven walking surfaces.

Responsibilities

Prepare spray guns and nozzles according to paint type for proper paint flow and coating thickness.
Select the correct spray gun system for the material being applied.
Select paint according to company requirements and match colors using specified color charts.
Verify paint consistency using a viscosity meter.
Operate lifting and moving devices to access areas to be painted.
Set up portable equipment such as ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, and scaffolding.
Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers or finish coatings.
Monitor painting operations to identify and correct flaws.
Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment.
Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately.
Maintain a clean workspace and follow tooling requirements.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.
