About The Position

This position works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Building Trades and the Lead Painter and performs the routine preventive maintenance of all university-maintained indoor and outdoor protected coated surfaces.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of coatings and their applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver License and be insurable by the college carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of related experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Applying interior and exterior paints, stains, sealants, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, and priming surfaces including drywall, plaster, wood and metal.
  • Performing trim work, blending, color matching, and detailed finishing to meet campus standards.
  • Completing minor drywall, plaster and wood repairs prior to painting.
  • Cleaning, maintaining and properly storing tools, equipment and materials; ensuring safe handling and inventory of supplies.
  • Following OSHA, EPA and university safety protocols, including PPE use, chemical handling, ventilation practices, and safe equipment operation.
  • Completing work orders, tracking materials and communicating project status to supervisors.
