About The Position

The Painter is responsible for applying paint and coatings to components and trailers, ensuring a high-quality finish. This role involves various stages of the painting process, from surface preparation to final inspection, and requires adherence to safety and company policies. The position may require working overtime and contributing to team efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, based on education and work experience.
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training including knowledge of equipment, applications skills, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • Ability to take responsibility for mistakes.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of work performance.
  • Ability to communicate information orally and/or written to other personnel clearly and concisely.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of mixing ratios.
  • Ability to pass a pulmonary function test.

Responsibilities

  • Remove weld smut, smoke, and loose scale from components using blasting/blowing-off processes.
  • Remove steel blast grit from components and inspect for proper blast.
  • Apply a uniform coat of primer at the required mil thickness.
  • Check primed components for defects like runs or sags before top coating.
  • Apply a uniform layer of topcoat at the required mil thickness.
  • Undercoat trailer components as needed.
  • Operate unload machines, inspect and repair components, and enter component numbers into the computer.
  • Wipe down entire trailer with solvents to remove overspray and overlaps.
  • Visually inspect paint and undercoating.
  • Perform all assigned tasks safely, efficiently, timely, accurately, and productively according to company policy.
  • Contribute to team efforts to produce a quality product.
  • Attend scheduled work hours regularly and on time, maintaining good attendance.
  • Work mandatory overtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the company.
