About The Position

Austin Industrial provides premier self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft service to leading industrial companies across the U.S. An industry leader for more than 60 years, we offer single-source solutions to our customers in the oil, gas, chemical, food, agriculture, power, and manufacturing industries. The Painter must be able to prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. Austin Industries is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.
  • 4 years of Journeyman level experience.
  • NCCER certification.
  • A Valid Driver’s License.
  • Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.
  • Positions may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, working at elevations, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces.
  • Employees must possess sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills to safely perform job responsibilities.
  • Employees must be able to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies; exercise sound judgment; solve problems; maintain attention to detail; effectively manage stress; and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.
  • Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders and receives instructions verbally.
  • Prepare the surface using methods appropriate to remove dirt, oil, and grease, removing old paint, smoothing cracks, coating, and filling holes.
  • Work at heights with no fear.
  • May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface.
  • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce the desired color, according to specifications using a paddle or mechanical mixer.
  • May erect scaffolding or set up a ladder to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Apply paint to the surface using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
  • Other duties as assigned.
