About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Painter Grade 2 cleans, prepares, and paints parts, using specified procedures and techniques. This position also sets up electrostatic and air-powered paint equipment for use. The Painter is responsible for inspecting incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish, notifying the supervisor if any are detected. They will scrape scale and slag from parts, grind away rust, and treat parts with acid and wash with solvent. The Painter will apply primer and paint in accordance with AMSI and/or customer specifications and requirements. This role also involves assisting in organizing and cleaning storage areas to maintain efficient operation, including the back yard, side yard (and racks), front area of the shop, and all storage racks and totes. The Painter must maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area and perform all assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner, as directed by lead or supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry level; minimum 0 to 12 months of experience.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools related to grinding and buffing.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and learn quickly; self-starter/self-motivated individual.
  • Willing and able to have full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders.
  • Able to work overhead.
  • Able to reach, lift, push/pull, walk, climb, kneel, bend.
  • Good dexterity and range of movement in fingers, hands and wrists.
  • Able to sit for at least three hours.
  • Able to stand on feet for at least three hours.
  • Able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall.
  • Must be able to provide an assortment of tools in a rollaway toolbox.
  • Must be able to provide steel-toed boots.
